Call for Proposals:

The 5th Haruv International PhD Workshop on ‘Child Maltreatment’

The Haruv Institute ( is pleased to announce its 5th international mentoring workshop for PhD students who write their dissertation in the area of child maltreatment. The workshop offers a unique opportunity for doctoral students to discuss their PhD projects with international experts (see below).

In addition to lectures by the experts, PhD student will present their work, which will be followed by a discussion and feedback from the group of experts and peers. As this is a mentoring workshop, work in progress could also be accepted for presentation.

Each presented PhD project should focus on one of the following issues:

Theoretical debates about child maltreatment

Research methods for research on child maltreatment

Analysis of data

General questions on research design of studies on child maltreatment

The workshop will take place on December 4-6, 2017 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm daily at the Haruv Institute in the Hebrew University Mt. Scopus campus in Jerusalem, Israel.

Acceptance to the workshop entitles participants to financial support, including a travel grant and accommodation.

Please describe: a) your topic; b) the research method; c) the research design; and d) the possible contribution of the topic to child maltreatment discourse.

On a separate page, please provide: a concise title, name and contact information, institution and advisor’s name, the issue (from the above list) to be addressed in the presentation, and what stage of the study had been completed (e.g., proposal, data collection, initial analysis, etc.).

Decisions will be sent to applicants by October 1st, 2017.

Participants will be asked to send their Power Point presentations by November 15th, 2017.
